According to an ABC News story in 2012, over 100 million Americans make 4-5 attempts at losing weight every year. If you are someone who’s tried dieting on the premise that it would be a quick-fix program to undo years of poor food choices, you’ve probably come to realize this is not the answer to permanently losing the excess weight (i.e. fat), nor is it a realistic prescription for complete nutrition. For most of these programs, healthful living takes a back seat to forced or manipulated eating habits or meal plans that are unnatural or unsustainable, and at times are downright unhealthy.

Intuitively, we all know that what we need is a radical change, a defection from the current American way of thinking and lifestyle. Deep down we know we need REAL food education and a fresh perspective on how to navigate the sea of junk and fast food options that are so readily and abundantly available. And some of us have learned that a lifestyle change of this kind is not just for the sake of losing excess body fat, but it is about better health – because you can be skinny and metabolically obese; and because chronic illness is the number cause of early death.

This ought to not be another quick-fix solution, rather, it should be a strategy for life-long healthy, permanent and sustainable change! But is this possible? Is there a secret to cooperating with our body to achieve optimal health and normal weight and maintain it the rest of our lives? What is the ideal lifestyle we should live and what are the rules that govern this way of life?

Lifestyle Seminars

Beginning in January 2018, Sam Benavides, fitness trainer, wellness educator and now owner of the Living Root Cellar, will be presenting and facilitating FREE monthly seminars on the issue of living healthfully in a world of quick-fix diets and growing chronic disease. Sam will draw from both personal and professional experience in the area of fitness and wellness, as well as invite local wellness professionals to address four distinct topics as follows:

January 14: The law of Health: confirmation God loves you

February 11: Physical nourishment: the ancient app for your body

March 11: Lifestyle medicine: healing comes before relief

April 8: Functional fitness: moving with purpose

Each of these two-hour presentations will begin at 4 pm on the scheduled date and include educational handouts, plant food recipes, juice samples and access to additional resources to empower you to make the journey into the world of health and wellness.
