Whereas scientific discovery has exploded during this time, much of it has been focused on studying and treating the symptoms of disease, rather than the cause. The good news is that today, the overwhelming number of casual observers, in conjunction with a few visionary doctors, have made it impossible for the gate-keepers of this symptomatic methodology of treating disease to ignore the fact that our western lifestyle is the cause of most, if not all, chronic diseases.
This has given rise to what we now call “lifestyle medicine”. The American College of Lifestyle Medicine describes it this way:
Lifestyle Medicine involves the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches, such as a predominantly whole food, plant-based diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substance use, and other non-drug modalities, to prevent, treat, and, oftentimes, reverse the lifestyle-related, chronic disease that’s all too prevalent.
Lifestyle Medicine
It is on this topic that The Living Root Cellar is proud to announce the third of our seminar series and welcome Dr. Wayne Dysinger to our store.
Dr. Dysinger is a preventive and family medicine physician who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Lifestyle Medicine Solutions in Riverside, a new model primary care concept that is built on Lifestyle Medicine. He is also Chair of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, and Medical Director of the Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP). He is an active faculty at Loma Linda University and consults, teaches and participates in research on Lifestyle Medicine issues around the world.

Dr. Dysinger was previously Chair, Department of Preventive Medicine, Loma Linda University. He is a past President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, is on the board of the American College of Preventive Medicine, and has worked in various capacities with the American Medical Association and the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research. During this presentation, you will learn what is lifestyle medicine and how does a lifestyle medicine physician practice differ from other physicians. If you’re looking for tips on how to find a physician that will cooperate with your desire for addressing the causes, not the symptoms, of a medical condition, then this seminar is for you.
The seminar is scheduled for Sunday, March 11 at 4 pm at The Living Root Cellar. There will be vegan food samples, juice samples and recipes. Seating is limited and space will fill up quickly.
